A three-game sweep of the Dallas Snipers brought the Wichita Jr. Thunder within a point of third-place Springfield in the Mid-Western Division race.

The Jr. Thunder started the series off on the right foot with a 7-3 win on Friday.  The Snipers came back to tie after falling behind 1-0 and 2-1, but the Jr. Thunder opened up a bigger lead with two goals in the final 2:09 of the second period.

Dallas drew to within a goal again, but three Wichita tallies in a span of 2:44 late in the third period put the game away.

The Wichita goals came from seven different players – including Jack McClelland (1-3-4) and Peter Cicmanec (1-2-3).

Saturday’s game was another close one, with Wichita scoring the only goal of the first period, then extending their lead at 12:43 of the second. 

Dallas scored early in the third period to get within a goal, but Cicmanec restored their two-goal lead and they went on to a 4-2 win.  Jack McClelland scored again and added an assist.

Wichita’s Adam Conkling stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced while Alexander Moustakis made 54 saves for the Snipers – 41 of them through the first two periods.

The Jr. Thunder completed the sweep with a 6-2 win on Sunday.  Cicmanec and Oskar Gullstrom each had two goals and an assist.  Cicmanec and Matt McClelland both scored in the final 1:12 of the second period to give Wichita a two-goal lead going into the locker room for the second intermission.

Conkling entered the game at the start of the second period and made 21 saves on 22 shots over the final two frames.  Matt Stewart made 35 saves for the Snipers.
