Wichita Jr. Thunder blows out Dallas Snipers, 8-3

Wichita Jr. Thunder had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over Dallas Snipers. 

Wichita Jr. Thunder forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. Wichita Jr. Thunder had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wichita Jr. Thunder forced Dallas Snipers' netminders to work all game long, finishing with 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. Aaron Craft made 28 stops and Drew Stuve made one. Wichita Jr. Thunder outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Wichita Jr. Thunder averages 4.2 goals per contest. Wichita Jr. Thunder got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. 

Wichita Jr. Thunder was helped by Peter Cicmanec, who grabbed one goal and three assists. Cicmanec scored on the power play 9:52 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Wichita Jr. Thunder. An interference penalty on Carl Sandsten had put Wichita Jr. Thunder on the power play. Alex Smith assisted on the tally. Wichita Jr. Thunder additionally got points from Matej Porzer, who also had one goal and one assist, Smith, who also racked up two goals and two assists, and Ivan Brvenik, who also tallied two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Wichita Jr. Thunder included Dylan McDonald and Joel Johnson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Wichita Jr. Thunder came via Matt McClelland, who had one and John Pierce, Patrik Janac, and Tom Lindstrom, who contributed two each. 

Dallas Snipers forced Wichita Jr. Thunder goalie Jake Larson to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. 

Dallas Snipers also got points from Justin Becton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dallas Snipers also had goals scored by Erik Svensson and Dusan Olsa, who each put in one. In addition, Dallas Snipers received assists from Gary Burk and Trent Williams, who each chipped in one. 

Larson recorded 51 saves for Wichita Jr. Thunder. Wichita Jr. Thunder registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Wichita Jr. Thunder ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brock Steffen was ejected from the game. Dallas Snipers totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
