The El Paso Rhinos extended their winning streak to seven games with a three-game road sweep of the Dallas Snipers.
Friday’s game was a back-and-forth affair. Dallas held two different leads in the first period, but El Paso’s Kyle Keeder broke a 4-4 tie with 4:22 left in the second period and the Rhinos added three unanswered goals in the third for an 8-4 final.
Ryan Buttazoni stopped all 13 shots he faced and Connor Beaudet had a five-point night for El Paso with two goals and three assists.
Alexander Moustakis was pulled from the Dallas net in the third period, but not before he made 40 saves. Peter Kutlak scored twice and dished out an assist for the Snipers.
Dallas jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first period of Saturday’s game, but the Rhinos did not give up, scoring the last three goals of the game for a 6-5 win.
Beaudet scored the decisive goal with 1:13 left in the third period, completing the hat trick. Bryton Tomko had three assists and Brendon Cytulik made 22 saves after entering the game late in the first period – in what was his El Paso debut.
Kutlak and Michael Tugo each scored twice for the Snipers.
Dallas held a first period lead for the third straight game on Sunday, but was again unable to withstand the Rhinos’ comeback, as Petr Ceslik scored a goal in each period of El Paso’s 6-2 win.
Cytulik was back between the pipes and stopped 22 of 24 shots.
Moustakis had a busy night in the Snipers’ net, making 50 saves, and Kutlak wrapped up a productive weekend setting up both Dallas goals.
