The Oklahoma City Jr. Blazers opened up a 10-point lead in the Northwest Division with a three-game sweep of the Dallas Snipers at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Plano, TX.
The Snipers held a 2-1 lead early in Friday’s game, but the visiting Jr. Blazers scored six straight goals in a 7-3 win. Tomas Nemeth (2-2-4), Tomas Rubes (0-3-3) and Kirill Romanov (2-0-2) led the attached for OKC, providing Ole Nilsen (28 saves) with more than enough goal support.
Michael Tugo scored twice for Dallas.
On Saturday, the Snipers scored 32 seconds into the second period to take a 2-1 lead, but Oklahoma City scored goals 43 seconds apart in the third period and held on for a 4-3 win.
Pavel Oxiouta’s goal counted as the game-winner and Filip Kostka made 21 saves for the Jr. Blazers while Dallas goaltender Alexander Pihl stopped 37 of 41 shots.
The Jr. Blazers completed the sweep in convincing fashion on Sunday, building a 7-2 lead in the second period and rolling to a 10-5 win. Nine different Jr. Blazers found the net with Marek Charvat scoring twice and adding two assists. Nemeth and Romanov each had a goal and two assists and Johan Sorkin tallied three helpers.
Nathaniel Sepeda scored a hat trick in defeat for Dallas.
