Snipers Weekend Recap
Dallas, Texas – The Dallas Snipers opened their first series of the 2015 – 2016 season this past weekend against the Springfield Express. They went 1 – 1 – 1 – 0 vs. the Express in the opening weekend. The team earned 3 out of a possible 6 points. Returner and Alternate Captain Sterling Cooper picked up where he left off last season while returning goalie Alex Moustakis earned his first win as a Sniper in the Sunday game.
Friday October 2, 2015 vs. Springfield Express
Friday evening the Snipers jumped out to an early lead a little over five minutes into the game. Daniel Nordlander scored on the Snipers’ first power play of the season. Hampus Ahlebrand and Sasha Yunanov add the assists on the goal. That would be the last of the scoring for the team. Springfield Express forward Tyson Klingspohn had three goals and an assist. Swedish Forward Flip Jansson had two goals and an assist; in total, Springfield scored seven unanswered goals to win 7-1. Nick Bretzger made 32 saves on 33 shots for the win. Alex Pihl took the loss making 25 saves on 32 shots.
Saturday October 3, 2015 vs. Springfield Express
After being down 2 – 0 after the first period on Saturday night, the team scored four unanswered goals in the second period to make it a 4 – 2 lead after two periods of play. The team’s traded goals two times a piece in the first eleven minutes of the third period. The Express scored two goals in under two minutes to tie the game with Dallas native Dixon Whitehead scoring the game winner in OT to give the Express the 7 – 6 win. Tyson Klingspohn scored two more goals to make it a total of five goals in two games. Michael Crawford had three goals and two assists, while Captain Linus Dahlberg had one goal and five assists. Alex Pihl lost his second game of the season making 25 saves on 32 shots. Nick Bretzger advanced to 2 – 0 vs the Snipers on the weekend.
Sunday October 4, 2015 vs. Springfield Express
The teams traded goals twice in the opening period making it 2 – 2 after the first period. Linus Dahlberg scored both goals for the Express. The Express would score the first two goals in the second period, with Dahlberg scoring his third goal of the game. The Snipers responded with three goals of their own, leaving the score of the game 5-4 for Dallas going into the second intermission. The Snipers would tack on three more goals against Express goalie Daniel Lee in the third period. Springfield scored two during the third as well, but the Snipers held on for the 8 – 6 win. Moustakis earned his first win as a Sniper making 28 saves on 34 shots. Lee had the loss while making 16 saves on 24 shots.
