Snipers Struggles Continue

The Oklahoma City Blazers moved into sole possession of first place in the Mid-Western Division by sweeping sixth-place Dallas.

Two goals apiece from Viliam Seliga and Zachary Paxman helped the Blazers build a 5-0 lead less than a minute into the second period of Friday’s game and they cruised to a 7-2 win.

Cory King and Kody Smith each had two assists for the Blazers, who got 17 saves from Drennen Atherton.

Michael Tugo and Eric Eaton scored the Snipers goals – both in the second period – and Alexander Moustakis made 42 saves for Dallas.

The Blazers kept it going with a 7-1 win on Saturday, led by two-goal games for Victor Ekk, Vitali Mikhailov and Paxman, and four assists from King.

Phil Babb was between the pipes for the Blazers, stopping 21 of 22 shots.

Imanol Lasuen scored the Snipers goal and Moustakis made 38 saves for the Snipers.

The Blazers won again on Sunday, 7-3, with seven different OKC skaters lighting the lamp.  Ekk and Kirill Romanov had a goal and two assists each.

Matt Stewart entered the game in relief of Snipers starter Brady Weiss and made 27 saves – including 21 of 23 shots in the third period.
