Snipers Sign Nicolas Lasne

The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce their first signing of the 2016-2017 campaign. Nicolas Lasne, Forward from Tours, France. Last season Lasne played in the GMHL for the expansion franchise Norfolk Vikings. He is the first ever French player to sign with the Snipers.  

Lasne grew up playing hockey in France. As a 14 and 15-year-old he was playing in the second highest French U18 league. From 2012 – 2014, he played in 30 games. He had 6 goals, 10 assists for 16 points. He also added 62 PIMS. The following season he moved up to the highest U18 league. The same league that Dallas Stars Forward, Antoine Roussel played in before he made the transition to North America. Lasne played in 17 games scoring 1 goal, and adding 5 assists for 6 points. After that season, he moved to Canada to play in the GMHL.

Last season with the Norfolk Vikings Lasne played in 21 games. In those games he scored 1 goal and added 4 assists. He accumulated 70 penalty minutes. He ended up only playing in 21 of the 42 games. “He has some soft mitts, and he likes to play aggressive and gritty. Our fore checking struggled at times last season. We as a staff felt that he could help push the pace on that side of our game this season. I am excited to be working with a player like Nicolas. I think he will fit our group really well,” stated Assistant Coach Matthew Jaskiewicz.

Head Coach Aaron Davis will take his new squad on the ice September 6, 2016 to start the team’s training camp. “This year will be my 4th season in Dallas and I am really looking forward to get back to work. Each season we get the opportunity to bring in European players. Nicolas was highly recommended to us by one of our European Scouts. He will help our club in many ways,” stated Coach Davis.
