Snipers Land World Junior Defenseman Gasper Konc

The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce the signing of Defenseman, Gasper Konc. Last season, he played for the U18 National Slovenian Team and for HK Bled. Gasper becomes the second Slovenian player to ever sign with Dallas. He will arrive from Slovenia in September with teammate and another Slovenian Sniper player Jasa Jenko. Gasper is the second defenseman to sign with the Snipers this offseason.

During the 2017 – 2018 season Konc played for HK Bled in the IntHL and the Slovenian Top League. He was the 2nd youngest defensemen on the team. He missed time with HK Bled due to his time with the U18 National Slovenian Team. While playing with HK Bled last season between both leagues Konc played 14 games, had four points (two goals, two assists) and zero penalty minutes. He was also on the top defensive pair for HK Bled. While also playing Power Play and Penalty Kill.

During his stint with the U18 National Team he played five games and two points (two assists) and zero penalty minutes. Slovenians U18 team competed in D1A, which is the second highest level of U18 World Championships. He also was on the top defensive pair as well as Power Play and Penalty kill.

Snipers Head Coach Aaron Davis was excited about this signing. “This is one of our biggest signings we have ever had on the back end in franchise history. I watched him play in the U18 World Championships this season and he was a top defenseman for Slovenia. He played against 20 of the best U18 players from Latvia, Germany, Norway, Denmark and Kazakhstan and did well. His speed will give Coach Jaskiewicz and Coach Skelly more creativity and freedom on the back end. We are excited to have him apart of our program this year.”

Why did you choose to play in Dallas for the 2018-2019 Season?

“I choose to play in Dallas because I feel that the WSHL is a great opportunity for me to develop and will give me a great chance to play College Hockey.”

What is your team goal for this season in Dallas?

“To win the league championship”

“To become more skilled overall and add more speed to my game”

Konc will be wearing #23 for the Snipers this season. Gasper will be a key piece for Dallas this season. The 6’2, 185-pound Defenseman is looking forward to joining the Snipers Organization for the season. The Snipers will begin their 8th season of play during the 2018-2019 season.
