Snipers Ink World Junior Player

The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce the signing of Andres Kato. A Defensemen from Tallinn, Estonia, this will be his second season in North America. Last season, Kato played in the GMHL for the Bracebridge Blues.  He has also represented Estonia’s World Junior Team. This upcoming season will be his first season in the WSHL. 

Kato becomes the first defensemen to sign with the club for the upcoming season. He is the 2nd import to sign with the club after Nicolas Lasne signed with the team this past Tuesday. Kato played in North America last season in the GMHL had a successful campaign. While the defenseman was with the blues, he played in 35 games. He scored 3 goals, and added 18 assists for a total of 21 points. He only took a total of 14 penalties in 35 games. He also played in 5 games for Estonia at the WJC – U20. He was minus 2 with 2 PIMS. 

Head Coach Aaron Davis had this to say about his new defenseman. “Andres has played internationally at the World Junior Championships. He also played in Canada last year so I am expecting his adjustment period to be brief if any. He is the type of defensemen you can play in all situations which will benefit his development while he is here in Dallas. I am looking forward to working with a player of his skill set.”
