Snipers Ink Veteran Matins

The Dallas Snipers proud members of the Western States Hockey League are excited to announce the signing of Ingus Matins. The forward will look to establish himself early as this is set to be his third season in the junior ranks. He split time last season between the NA3HL and the GMHL. Last season he was teammates with current Sniper Andres Kato.

During his rookie season, the Latvian native played for the Marquette Royals in the MNJHL. In 43 regular season games he scored 17 goals and added 7 assists with 34 PIMs. In 2 additional games during playoffs, he scored 2 more goals. Last season he began playing in the NA3HL for the Southern Tier Xpress. In 19 games with the club he had 1 goal, and 3 assists with 2 PIMs and was – 8. In December he switched teams and leagues and it helped him get back on track. He had 8 points in 9 games with Bracebridge in the GMHL. He was also teammates with recent signee Andres Kato.

“Ingus had an impressive rookie season with the Royals. Last season he really found his game towards the end of the season. This year as a Veteran he will need to come in and lead by example. We want to give him options at a higher level for next season. I am really looking forward to working with Ingus,” stated Coach Davis.

Ingus and the team start training camp September 6, 2016. The team will play the Vail Powder Hounds in Vail, Colorado September 30 – October 2. Tune back tomorrow for another player signing!
