Snipers Earn Sweep Last Weekend Of Regular Season

The Dallas Snipers swept three games from Tulsa, but still finished two points behind the Jr. Oilers in the Mid-Western Division basement.

Alexander Yunanov picked up three of his six points as Dallas built a 6-0 lead in the first period of Friday’s game.  Yunanov finished the game with six points (3-3-6) in a 9-1 Snipers win.

Michael Tugo (2-2-4) also had a big game for the Snipers, who got 26 saves from Alexander Moustakis.

The first three times the Snipers took a one-goal lead in Saturday’s game, the Jr. Oilers responded with the next goal to tie the score, but they didn’t get a chance to pull it off a fourth time, as the game went to sudden-death overtime.

Daniel Nordlander won it for Dallas with :39 left in the first OT.

Tulsa earned a point despite never having a lead in the game.

Devonne Berry scored a goal for the Jr. Oilers and assisted on the other two.

Moustakis made 32 saves to earn the win over Tulsa’s Everest Bradford (44 saves).

Tulsa scored 42 seconds into Sunday’s series finale, but Dallas answered just 36 seconds later to tie the game and went on to a 5-2 win.

The first period ended 1-1, but the Snipers scored three times in the second frame and took a 4-1 lead into the third period.

Nordlander scored twice in the second period and Tugo assisted on both Dallas goals in the third period.

Bradford made 40 saves for Tulsa – 21 in the first period.  Matt Stewart stopped 28 of 30 shots for Dallas.
