Snipers Add Big Slovenian Power Forward
The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce the signing of Forward, Jasa Jenko. Last season, he played for Triglav Kranj, the Slovenian U18 National Team and played about a dozen games for the U20 Slavija Ljubljana program. The big winger is looking forward to beginning his career is the USA with the Snipers. He is the first ever Slovenian to sign with the Snipers.
This is what Snipers Head Coach had to say about Jasa. “I watched him play for Slovenia at the U18 World Championships this past season. He has great size and he gets to the front of the net which is crucial in the game today. We were not satisfied with our net front presence last season. I am excited have another opportunity to work with another player from a new country and help him develop into a top player for Slovenia.”
A Slovenian native, he played for Triglav Kranj. They Senior team plays in two leagues. The IntHL and Slovenia. The IntHL is comprised of the top senior teams in Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia. The Slovenia league is comprised of all the senior teams in Slovenia. While playing in the IntHL he had 17 games played with 15 goals and 8 assists for 23 points. His team won the regular season championship. He finished top 20 in scoring and top 20 in points per game. He added 1 goal in 2 assists in 4 playoff games before his team lost in the semifinals. While playing for Slovenia top senior league he only played 3 games in the regular season but had 6 points (3 goals,3 assists) in 4 playoff games before losing in the semifinals again. He was selected to play for Slovenia U18 World Championship team. He had 2 assists in 5 games, playing as a top 6 forward for the team.
“Adding a world talent like Jasa is going to be a huge. We went into the off season wanting to get bigger, faster, stronger and smarter. We fell Jasa hits all those things we want to improve on. His development with us here in going to be a key point on him moving forward. He has all the tools here to get better. I am incredibly excited for September to hit so we can get to work,” stated Assistant Coach Matthew Jaskiewicz.
Jenko will be wearing #10 for the Snipers this upcoming season. Jasa will move to Dallas, prior to the season starting. The 6’2, 190-pound winger is looking forward to joining the Snipers Organization for the 2018-2019 season. The Snipers will begin their 8th season of play during the 2018-2019 season.
