Snipers Add 3 Veterans to Roster

The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce the signing of 2 players and the acquisition of another through a trade with the West Sound Warriors. All three players will suit up for the Snipers tonight as they take on the Wichita Jr Thunder this weekend.

The first player the Snipers have added is WSHL Veteran Taner Byrd (97). The Oklahoma City native has played for the Oklahoma City Blazers and Tulsa Jr Oilers his past three seasons in the WSHL. In 121 games player Byrd has 9 goals, 14 assists for a total of 23 points, he also has 248 PIMS. “Taner has played against us for three seasons and is always one of the hardest working players out on the ice. He has great puck protection and understands the game. He also has a gritty and physical side which is something we have lacked thus far this season. My expectation is for him to come in here and help be a veteran presence in our locker room and for him to bring an incredible work ethic to our hockey club”, stated Head Coach Aaron Davis.

The second player signing with the Snipers is Veteran NA3HL forward, Blake Elliott (99). The Houston native has suited up 72 games in the NA3HL for the Louisiana Drillers and the College Station Spirit. Elliott started off this season with teammate Taner Byrd in College Station. Over his time in the NA3HL, Elliott scored 13 goals and added 7 assists for 20 points and added 223 PIMS. “Blake has great speed and a hard shot and plays with grit. You must have guys get to the corner and do the dirty work and Blake has displayed that in his game. We are excited to have him in Dallas”, stated Snipers Assistant Coach Matthew Jaskiewicz.

                The Snipers made a trade with the West Sound Warriors. The Snipers sent Latvian Defensemen Deniss Berdniks to West Sound for American Defenseman Cooper Dibiase. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma Dibiase has played for his home town Tulsa Jr Oilers program the past 3 seasons. The veteran defenseman has played 119 games accumulating 7 goals, 20 assists and 148 PIMS. “Cooper has played against us for 3 years inside our division with Tulsa. This is his last year of juniors and he wants to move on to a school next fall. We are looking forward to him coming in helping us build our young defensive core and look forward to helping move another player to the collegiate level”, stated Coach Davis.
