Moustakis Shines In Season Series Finale

        Oklahoma City wrapped the Mid-West Division crown long, long ago, but still had the overall WSHL points title to play for.  They dropped a pair of one-goal games to Dallas, however, to finish fourth overall with the fewest points of any of the four division winners.

The Blazers will enjoy their bye next week while the Snipers will meet Wichita in a Mid-West Division Quarterfinal series.

Friday’s game did not mean much in the standings, but the Snipers scored a confidence-boosting 3-2 win. 

The Blazers led, 2-1, after the opening period but Peter Kutlak of Dallas evened the score and Alexander Yunanov gave the Snipers a 3-2 lead with 6:07 left in the second period.

Alexander Moustakis, who made 50 saves in the game, made the one-goal lead hold up for the remaining 26:07 of game time.

Moustakis made another 58 saves as the Snipers repeated their 3-2 win on Saturday, scoring twice in the third period to complete yet another comeback. 

Patrick Tondl tied the game, 2-2, at 8:08 of the third period and Matej Pavlovsky netted the game-winner – his second of the game – with 6:17 left in the game.

Kyle and Ryan Cagnoni scored the goals for OKC. Moustakis made 108 saves on 112 shots in 2 games. 

The Blazers looked more like themselves Sunday, scoring four times in a span of 5:34 to blow the game open.  They won by a final score of 11-1.  Tomas Rubes fired home a hat trick and had an assist for Oklahoma City.  Tomas Nemeth (1-5-6) set up five goals and Adam Skutchan (2-3-5) had five points.
