Domeika Represents Lithuania at World Junior Tournament

The Dallas Snipers of the Western States Hockey League are proud to announce that Defensemen, Arvidas Domeika has been selected to play for Team Lithuania’s U20 World Junior Team. This will become Domeika’s second stint with the U20 world club as he played with them last season.

“We are very proud of Arvi as he gets another opportunity to play for his country. Anytime you have a chance to represent your home country in a world tournament like the World Junior Championships, it is a huge opportunity. We always encourage our players who have that opportunity to take advantage of the chance to play for their home country. Arvi becomes our 7th world junior player to be a part of our program here in Dallas,” stated Head Coach Aaron Davis.

Domeika stands at 6’4 and 220 pounds and is one of only two left handed defensemen on the Snipers roster.  Since arriving in Dallas in late August, Domeika has been one of the back bones for the Snipers on the back end this season. The 17-year-old from Grodno, Belarus has impressed the coaching staff thus far his first season in the states.

“He is a great kid, who really loves to play this game and strives to improve every day we are at the rink. He is going to have a bright future in this game with his work ethic and dedication to improve. We have a young group on the back end this season and when that happens you must have young guys play at a higher level and I think our older guys like Erich Polacik and Matt Ray have done a good job working with our young players and teaching them how to play like vets and Arvi has responded well. I think he has done a good job of working his way up the chart and has established himself as a top four defensemen on our club and at certain times looks like a number one guy,” stated Assistant Coach Matthew Jaskiewicz.

Arvidas Domeika and Team Lithuania play in Division 1 – Group B in Slovenia from December 9, 2017 – December 15, 2017.  They play in a group with Norway, Poland, Ukraine, Italy and Slovenia. Domeika will miss the series vs the Jr Thunder, but will return for the Western States Shootout in Las Vegas the week before Christmas. Congratulations to Arvi on his achievement.
