Cobo Commits to the University of Arkansas
Snipers Veteran Forward Jean Cobo has committed to play college hockey at the University of Arkansas (ACHA D1). Cobo has spent his last three seasons of his junior hockey career playing for the Snipers organization. A native of Mexico City, Mexico, he was brought in by Travis Clayton in 2012 – 2013 season to add depth at the center position. Each season with the Snipers Jean took on a bigger role. “This past season he was one of my top penalty killers.” said Head Coach Aaron Davis. Last season Cobo set career highs for himself in Goals (10), Assists (18), Points (28), Penalty Minutes (95) and Power Play Points (7).
When Jean was asked why he decided to choose the University of Arkansas he responded with this to say. “The Arkansas program has a chance to make a run for a National Championship and I want to be a part of the winning tradition.” Jean will be studying Pre-Med at school for the next 4 years. Snipers Assistant Coach Matthew Jaskiewicz had this to say about Jean. “He is a very coachable player; the Razorbacks are getting a good 2 way depth center ice man. He is very devoted to progressing as a player each and every season. He is a young man of strong character, and is one of the most respectful young men I have ever met.”
Jean was asked “How was your time while you were playing with the Snipers organization.” His response “I had a great time playing for the Snipers, I loved every single minute of it. My two years with Coach Davis my game developed quite a bit. The trainers at Severyn Sports Inc. such as Mr. Severyn, and Coach Tyler really helped me establish a great off ice routine that helped me get much stronger these past three seasons as well. I would also like to thank some of the people who helped me along the way. I would like to thank Mr. Becton for providing a program that has help developed my game and made such an impact on my life these last three seasons. I’d like to thank Coach Davis for helping me through these past few season with developing my game. Thank you to Coach Jaskiewicz for always being there to help me after a bad shift and point out things in my game to work on in game situations. Severyn Sports Inc. for helping me develop a great off season routine and always helping gain hockey knowledge. I’d like to thank my family for making all the sacrifices they did so that I could be where I am at today. I want to tell them I love them and thank you for all the support you give to me.”
Congratulations to Jean Cobo on his commitment to the University of Arkansas! Check back all summer for more Snipers Commitments!
